Veteran’s Transitional Housing NEW BEDFORD, MA
Supporting the New Bedford Veterans Transition House in their mission to help homeless and at-risk veterans, ICON developed a campus plan which creates new high-quality homes, saves existing housing stock, and provides program and service spaces for veterans and their families to thrive. At the bottom of the hill, the renovated administration building includes a welcoming lobby and drop off area. The newly constructed mixed-use building offers a full commercial kitchen and dining for 40 people, with 30 apartments above. Twenty-three of the apartments are SROs, supportive housing with efficient kitchens and bathrooms. Residents gather in the Dining Room, while supportive program spaces include multipurpose rooms for in-patient meetings and workforce development training.
