Veterans Transitional Housing
Supporting the New Bedford Veterans Transition House in their mission to help homeless and at-risk veterans, ICON re-envisioned an existing three building facility into a campus plan providing housing and supports for homeless, at-risk veterans and their families in the MA south coast area. The redevelopment of the program includes two buildings. The newly constructed mixed-use building offers a full commercial kitchen and 40-person dining room for the larger veteran community meal program; supportive program spaces including an office suite for veterans’ services that offer educational and development training areas for clients and twenty-three units of supportive housing offering efficient kitchens and private bathrooms. The smaller three story “house” building at the west end of the site provides homes for 7 independent veteran family households of varying sizes.
