Fábrica Lofts Lawrence, MA
Fábrica Lofts is the adaptive reuse of a 100+ year-old mill building located within the 75-acre Arlington Mills Historic District and Smart Growth Overlay 40R District. While respectful of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, the redevelopment blends the building’s rich history with contemporary life. Large, high-ceilinged apartments are naturally daylighted by historically sensitive windows; many loft spaces tuck within the higher ceiling areas. The design blends the best of the old with new, restoring masonry walls, both inside and outside, exposing ceiling beams and columns, and reusing sliding metal doors in a nod to the building’s history.
