Senior Principal + LIVE Advisor
Nancy Ludwig established ICON as a Women Owned Business (WBE) in 2008; having stepped down as President in 2024, she is now the Senior Advisor to ICON’s “LIVE” practice. Her work is focused on sustainable residential projects that create new paradigms for living; it ranges from transit-oriented developments (TOD) to innovative adaptive reuse, and from low-rise to high-rise and urban to suburban. Nancy has contributed to the design and construction of over 20,000 housing units throughout New England, with 2,000 currently under design or in construction this year, including both Modular and Passive House designs. Her projects have been case studies for nationally distributed books on sustainable housing, published by ULI, Harvard University Press, and Global Green. She has also been honored by multiple national awards.
Senior Principal + RENEW Advisor
Having shaped ICON’s “RENEW” practice, Janis’ work has focused on rethinking the realities of existing buildings, from value-add modernizations to major transformations of community historic assets, to deep energy retrofits. Over the past four decades, Janis has become a staunch advocate for historic structures and their continued dialogue with communities; most prolific is the preservation of turn-of-the-century schools transformed into affordable housing for supported senior living.
As Janis transitions from a managing principal role to one of advisor, she guides ICON’s “RENEW” team in cultivating the mission of modern preservation to tackle the convergence of existing buildings and sustainable practices. Her personal pursuits look to merge a career of affordable housing experience with advocacy focused on alternative living options for the neurodiverse population.

Ned Collier is a Senior Leader at ICON Architecture, where he spearheads the firm’s Education and Institutional practice, focusing on dynamic, responsive design solutions. Ned is particularly skilled in navigating intricate stakeholder dynamics, helping clients articulate their needs and find common ground for innovation.
As a former design studio instructor, Ned fosters a leadership style rooted in dialogue, collaboration, and a learning culture—both in his design work and with his team. He approaches architecture not as a reductive process but as one that embraces complexity, synthesizing multifaceted ideas to create solutions that are thoughtful and inclusive.

Kendra Halliwell is a visionary leader at ICON Architecture, known for her inclusive approach and ability to align client ambitions with team strengths and community aspirations. She excels in synthesizing big-picture vision with intricate details, particularly in housing, artist live-work spaces, and modular construction.

With over a decade at ICON, Dave’s role has evolved from project-specific work to a broader focus on business management and development. A versatile generalist, he brings expertise across various project types and is involved throughout each project’s lifecycle, aiming to deliver both high-quality results and a positive client experience that supports lasting relationships.
Outside of architecture, Dave is committed to his community, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanity. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys biking, beach outings, and exploring real estate.

An avowed spreadsheet “nerd”, she is a wiz at organizing and manipulating the dense information needed to bring a building project together. A BIM master, she both renders and articulates the forces that build a great project.
QA/QC Leader
Paul is a masterful juggler of projects and deadlines! His calm demeanor, acute listening skills, and vast experience have contributed to the successful completion of projects ranging from small public facility upgrades to large, new institutional projects. His extensive knowledge of construction documentation, public bidding, and construction administration has made him a critical member of ICON’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control team.

Shalinie is driven to create meaningful residential projects that offer positive, sustainable contributions to communities. She brings a positive attitude, clear communication, and intense focus to managing our in-house and consultant teams. Trained in Passive House design, she seeks sustainable solutions to a broad range of construction types.
