In her 24 years at ICON, Michelle’s dual architecture and planning backgrounds valued stakeholder engagement and a thorough understanding of context to ground each project.  A founding member of both ICON’s Sustainability and DEI Committees, her ability to make complex ideas clear and accessible has made her a trusted leader and pioneer within the firm and across the broader industry.

Michelle’s hands-on, inclusive approach prioritizes team collaboration, underpinned by rigor, transparency, and accountability.  Her ongoing curiosity promotes a process and culture that produces integrative design solutions that drive environmental and social resilience.

Matt’s creativity and technological savvy have propelled ICON’s ability to conceptualize and deliver exceptional design. As Chief Operations Officer, Matt leverages our team and technology to bring concepts to life and communicate them effectively to clients, officials, community members and teams alike.

Exemplifying the value ICON places on personal growth and promotion from within, Matt evolved from an intern at ICON 18 years ago into a highly versatile architect, taking on increasingly complex and technical responsibilities. His passion for problem-solving and innovative solutions makes him a trusted resource, mentoring our teams to deliver exceptional client service.

Janice’s keen financial acumen and performance-accelerating leadership drive the seamless operation of ICON Architecture. As Chief Financial Officer, Janice helms the firm’s financial health, ensuring sustainable growth, fiscal responsibility, and strategic planning in support of the firm’s long-term vision. Her consistent, pragmatic approach holds teams accountable, fosters sound decision-making, and drives operational efficiency across the organization.

In her 10 years at ICON, she has built upon her deep experience in Finance and Public Accounting within the Architecture & Engineering (A&E) industry, keeping the firm grounded in the unique metrics that drive financial wellness within professional services firms.

Her passion for creating a motivating and successful work environment at ICON mirrors her dedication to fostering a healthy and happy business, ensuring that every decision contributes to the firm’s ongoing success.

Nancy Ludwig established ICON as a Women Owned Business (WBE) in 2008; having stepped down as President in 2024, she is now the Senior Advisor to ICON’s “LIVE” practice. Her work is focused on sustainable residential projects that create new paradigms for living; it ranges from transit-oriented developments (TOD) to innovative adaptive reuse, and from low-rise to high-rise and urban to suburban. Nancy has contributed to the design and construction of over 20,000 housing units throughout New England, with 2,000 currently under design or in construction this year, including both Modular and Passive House designs. Her projects have been case studies for nationally distributed books on sustainable housing, published by ULI, Harvard University Press, and Global Green. She has also been honored by multiple national awards.

Having shaped ICON’s “RENEW” practice, Janis’ work has focused on rethinking the realities of existing buildings, from value-add modernizations to major transformations of community historic assets, to deep energy retrofits. Over the past four decades, Janis has become a staunch advocate for historic structures and their continued dialogue with communities; most prolific is the preservation of turn-of-the-century schools transformed into affordable housing for supported senior living.

As Janis transitions from a managing principal role to one of advisor, she guides ICON’s “RENEW” team in cultivating the mission of modern preservation to tackle the convergence of existing buildings and sustainable practices. Her personal pursuits look to merge a career of affordable housing experience with advocacy focused on alternative living options for the neurodiverse population.

Ned Collier is a Senior Leader at ICON Architecture, where he spearheads the firm’s Education and Institutional practice, focusing on dynamic, responsive design solutions. Ned is particularly skilled in navigating intricate stakeholder dynamics, helping clients articulate their needs and find common ground for innovation.

As a former design studio instructor, Ned fosters a leadership style rooted in dialogue, collaboration, and a learning culture—both in his design work and with his team. He approaches architecture not as a reductive process but as one that embraces complexity, synthesizing multifaceted ideas to create solutions that are thoughtful and inclusive.

Outside the office, Ned lives and breathes architecture, driven by a passion for improving the world through thoughtful design. His commitment to equity, sustainability, and holistic thinking guides every decision he makes—ensuring that the spaces he helps create are both joyful and impactful.

Kendra Halliwell is a visionary leader at ICON Architecture, known for her inclusive approach and ability to align client ambitions with team strengths and community aspirations. She excels in synthesizing big-picture vision with intricate details, particularly in housing, artist live-work spaces, and modular construction.

Kendra describes her role as “gathering information, finding balance, and creating something greater than the sum of its parts.” Her approachable demeanor fosters collaboration and shared learning, inspiring design excellence while nurturing ICON’s next generation of architects. Dedicated to thoughtful, community-centered architecture, she ensures project concepts remain true from inception to completion.

An artist at heart, Kendra enjoys painting during her travels, infusing creativity into her work and personal life, bridging connections within her team and the communities ICON serves.

Dave Stockless, Associate Principal at ICON Architecture, is known for his proactive leadership and dedication to effective, respectful communication. His management style emphasizes punctuality, clear alignment, and open dialogue, ensuring clients, consultants, and his team remain in sync.

With over a decade at ICON, Dave’s role has evolved from project-specific work to a broader focus on business management and development. A versatile generalist, he brings expertise across various project types and is involved throughout each project’s lifecycle, aiming to deliver both high-quality results and a positive client experience that supports lasting relationships.

Outside of architecture, Dave is committed to his community, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanity. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys biking, beach outings, and exploring real estate.

Michelle Waldon, Associate Principal at ICON Architecture, is celebrated for her collaborative leadership and mentorship-driven approach. She fosters a learning-focused environment, guiding her team to understand all project stages while supporting their growth across the firm.

With expertise in renovation, new construction, and housing projects, Michelle brings a balanced perspective to every endeavor. Her current focus on modernizing mid-century buildings and advancing sustainable design underscores her commitment to innovation. As co-leader of ICON’s Passive House group, she streamlines strategies to enhance energy efficiency.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys traveling, boating, skiing, and caring for her three rescue dogs. Her dedication to her craft, her team, and the community defines her impactful role at ICON.
