Just a short walk from the MBTA Orange Line at Sullivan Square, Arris defines a new residential neighborhood in Somerville. A true mixed-use development, the project incorporates a multi-level, 450-space shared garage, a new hotel, 200+ residential units, and ground floor retail. Formerly the home of the veteran-focused “City Club”, a renewed social club is the highlight of the ground floor.
Built to meet “high-rise” wood code requirements, the design boasts a palette of warm, natural colored rusts and tans. The E-shape wraps two landscaped courtyards overlooking the main street; a trellis along the façade hints to the lush setting above. Robust building volumes push and pull to break down the scale and mass of the building; deep insets for decks and windows at corners focus views on key entry portals.
