Neighborhood locals remember this incredible structure by its former names — the Imperial Knife Factory or the Rochambeau Worsted Wool Factory – a noteworthy example of industrial design built along the Woonasquatucket River in Providence in 1923. Now revitalized and rebranded as 60 King, the development celebrates those former names and their industrial history with a collection of unique, authentic flats and lofts.  The building’s exterior successfully mixes old and new, preserving historic materials and forms where possible, and introducing new elevations of artistically textured metal shingles and corrugated metal, establishing an aesthetic that echoes the mill’s storied past.

60 King’s sixty apartments embrace tall ceilings and industrial inspiration, with oversized mill style windows, exposed steel beams, open concept layouts, and modern finishes.  The challenging existing, inefficient wide floor plates now provide wide corridors that expose and celebrate the original structure.  Uniquely deep apartments allow large storage areas and kitchens within the units. True unit lofts are accessed by new, contemporary steel stairs, woven through the existing steel beams.  Historic building additions have been reconnected into the main structure to provide amenity areas for residents.  A landscaped courtyard flows from the amenities.

The newest chapter of Sixty King offers spacious and light filled studio, one, two, and three bedroom apartments and lofts that rest inside its sturdy confines.
